Every so often, a Calamity awakens: a hugely empowered Tensura monster spawns somewhere in the world, and the whole server has a limited time to bring it down. Everyone who does enough damage gets rewarded.
This system must be enabled on your server (gamerule ETCalamityEnabled). Admins can also trigger events manually.
- At a random interval — between 2 and 6 hours (default, server-configurable) — a calamity boss spawns. It prefers to appear inside a claimed Walpurgis territory; otherwise it appears 50–100 blocks from a random online player.
- The Voice of the World announces the awakening, along with a warning giving the boss's approximate coordinates (rounded to the nearest 10 blocks).
- The boss is a buffed version of a normal Tensura monster (defaults include Charybdis, the Orc Lord, and the Arch Daemon — server-configurable). It's named "Calamity: <type>", glows, and won't despawn.
- 3× max health (default, server-configurable)
- 2× attack damage (default, server-configurable)
- A purple boss bar is shown to all players within 96 blocks (default, server-configurable)
The server has 30 minutes (default, server-configurable) to kill the calamity. If time runs out — or the boss otherwise vanishes — it "recedes" back into the world and nobody gets rewards. The next event is then scheduled.
Your damage against the boss is tracked. When it dies:
- Everyone who dealt at least 10% of the boss's max HP (default, server-configurable) qualifies as a contributor.
- Each contributor receives a Rare crate key (default 1; see Crates).
- The top damager additionally receives an Elite crate key (default 1).
- Contributors earn the hidden Calamity Slayer title (epic rarity, +5 attack damage), announced world-wide.
- Slay 5 calamities while holding Calamity Slayer to unlock the legendary Calamity Vanquisher title.
You must be online when the boss dies to receive rewards. If the boss is killed by something other than a player, no rewards are paid.
- The announcement gives rough coordinates — head there fast; the clock is running.
- Even if you can't land the killing blow, dealing 10% of its HP is enough to qualify — get your hits in.
- Server restarts don't cancel an active calamity; the boss will still be there.
