With this many stacking systems — engravings,
synergies, nation perks,
season mutators, Kaioken — “what actually killed
me?” stops being an easy question. The Death Recap answers it.
When you die, a panel appears in the top-left of the death screen, above the usual respawn
buttons. It lists your last 8 hits (default, server-configurable), oldest first, most recent
last.
Each row shows what hit you, and what the hit did:
| Row shows | Meaning |
|---|---|
5.0 |
The hit dealt 5 damage, unmodified |
7.0 ↑ 9.0 |
The hit started at 7 and was raised to 9 |
7.0 ↓ 4.0 |
The hit started at 7 and was reduced to 4 |
negated |
The hit was cancelled entirely and dealt nothing |
Alongside it: the name of whatever attacked you, and the kind of damage it was. Environmental
damage — falling, drowning, fire — shows no attacker.
The arrow is the net result of everything that touched that hit: your resistances, your
engravings, your synergies, your buffs, the attacker’s own bonuses, whatever the season’s twist
is doing. It deliberately does not try to name which system did what.
That is still enough to answer the question that matters. If a hit landed at triple what you
expected, you know something is amplifying it and can go looking. If your best defensive setup
shows no ↓ at all, it is not working.
negated — useful for confirming a defensive skill fired.
